NExpress is coming!

The library is changing it’s current library software to NExpress Shared Catalog using the open source software, KOHA.  The advantages to this is numerous.  To start with you will be able to access the library at home, work, or wherever you are that has access to the Internet.  You will be able to borrow books from not only Wellsville’s Library but also from more than 20 other libraries.  They will be delivered to Wellsville for you to pick up.  We will be changing the checkout policies to no fines (any lost or damaged item will have to be paid for).  Futher changes will be the length of checkout of book materials, new releases will be one week, and other items will be three weeks.  We will register all the patrons and the patrons will get to set their own passwords for use of the system.  New library cards will be issued.  They will receive two cards, one standard size card and one that goes on a keychain.  If the cards are lost they can be replaced at a fee of $1.00.  The whole process was scheduled for late this fall but due to the amazing amout of time to switch everything over we will be doing this into the first half of 2009.

The Wellsville City Library hosts a scrapbooking/cardmaking day each month.  The next scheduled day is January 24th. We open the library’s meeting room for people to bring a friend and their supplies to share a day of crafting. The library also makes available to the scrapbooking and cardmaking friends the diecutters and other various crafting helpers. We meet from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Contact the library for more information.
